Girl Scout Day at Yankee Stadium
Overview
If you’ve ever been to Yankee Stadium on a rainy day in May, you already know: skip it. This trip was specifically for Girl Scout Day, and the rain that started Friday was still going strong on Sunday… and they still played the game.
My review isn’t glowing because the Girl Scout families were informed very late, and the events that justified the full‑price tickets were cancelled. This review focuses only on Girl Scout Day. For general stadium guidance, see my main Yankee Stadium review.
Cost
Participation in the parade required purchasing tickets through FEVO, meaning no discounts.
We usually sit in the 4th tier, so our tickets were $30 each.
You could spend $200+ per ticket if you want to make it a special event — but I wouldn’t recommend it for this particular day.
Who Is This For?
Girl Scouts ages 5–18, plus their family members.
Regular tickets were also available for non–Girl Scout families.
How Do You Get There?
Subway: Always my top recommendation. Take the B, D, or 4 — they drop you right across the street.
Cab: We sometimes take a cab when there’s a giveaway and getting in line early matters. See my general Yankee Stadium review for tips on taking a cab home.
Driving: We never drive because parking is $40+, and we’d still need to find parking when we return home.
If you live outside the city, compare the cost of parking vs. train fare.
Don’t forget to factor in tolls.

Describe the Experience
Here’s where the frustration comes in.
By the time the Yankees announced that the game would still be played, it was too late for most families to adjust their plans. That meant hundreds of Girl Scout families likely ate the cost of their tickets. Most New York families don’t have “Yankee Stadium money” to casually lose.
The previous day’s game had been rescheduled as a doubleheader in September. With the all‑day rain forecast, many assumed the same would happen here. Yes, Girl Scout Day would have landed on a random weekday in September — not ideal for school‑age kids — but families would have had options:
Resell their tickets
Skip school and attend
Or make the choice to lose the money
Instead, they were stuck.
And then there’s the weather. Yankee Stadium in the cold is brutal. The wind gets trapped inside the stadium and whips around nonstop. Add rain, and it becomes a truly miserable experience — not a day to bring kids.
If you have a die‑hard fan who insists on going, check the Parents Section in my general Yankee Stadium review.
